Acne is a common skin condition prevalent among both the teenagers and adults, causing red pimples to appear on the skin. Though acne mostly occurs on the face, it is also seen in other parts like neck, back, chest, and shoulders. Acne on the chest is quite similar to the facial acne in its symptoms and treatments.
Since it occurs because of infected oil glands, the problem becomes worse during the summer months when the pores/hair follicles are clogged from sweat, resulting in increased bacterial infections on the body.
Here are some simple remedies to help with chest acne.
How to Get Rid of Chest Acne Naturally
Rich in alpha hydroxyl acid and citric acid, lemon juice is useful for reducing the severity of acne as well as for diminishing scars. It acts as a natural exfoliant helping in removing dead skin cells.
You can gently rub lemon juice on the skin and leave it for few hours. Rinse it thoroughly with plain water. Do this for twice or thrice a week.
Honey and Cinnamon
Known for its antibiotic properties, the combination of honey and cinnamon assists in fighting acne-causing bacteria.
Make a paste by blending cinnamon in honey and apply it on the chest. Rinse off completely after keeping it for at least fifteen minutes. Continuing this process for a week will give you the desired results.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Being rich in natural acids, apple cider vinegar aids in maintaining the pH balance of the skin. As a result, it wards off harmful bacteria from penetrating the skin.
Dip a cotton ball in a teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar and rub it gently on the acne-affected places. Leave it overnight and rinse off using fresh water the next day.
Tea Tree Oil
The antiseptic properties of tea tree oil not just help cleanse the sweat pores and hair follicles naturally but also prevent bacteria from causing skin infections. Gently rub a few drops of this oil on the skin and give it enough time to dry. Make sure that you repeat this process two to three times daily.
A paste prepared from fenugreek leaves and water, kept on the skin for fifteen minutes, is beneficial for treating chest acne since it reduces skin inflammations and infections caused by bacteria.
A natural extract prepared by crushing Aloe Vera leaves can be applied on the red bumps caused by cystic acne. Its regular application will help reduce the inflammations, as also lighting of acne scars on the chest.
Cleanse your skin by applying a thick homemade mask of egg whites, lemon juice, and honey. Separate the yolks by placing the egg whites in a mixing bowl. Add a tablespoonful of honey and lemon juice into the bowl. Whisk the mixture until it becomes fluffy. Apply a layer of the mixture on the skin and wait for it to dry. Once it dries out, add another layer. You can repeat this for one more layer of the mixture. Use a soft, clean towel to pat dry the skin gently.
It is considered one of the best ways to get rid of chest acne since it helps to absorb excess oil and removes dirt that is accumulated on the skin. Start with cooking a fair amount of oatmeal. After the oatmeal has cooled down considerably, add some lemon juice and honey into it. Make a paste and rub it on the chest. Leave it on for 30-40 minutes, after which you can wash it off with lukewarm water.
