  1. Say no to hot shower


Super hot water depletes the skin’s moisture, leaving it dry. Try a lukewarm shower with a gentle soap-free body cleanser to clean yourself, while pampering your skin.

  1. Moisturize when your skin is still damp


You can choose a good moisturizing lotion enriched with natural ingredients like coconut oil or almond oil and cocoa butter to soothe and nourish your skin. Rub a generous quantity into your skin, knees, elbows, and face and massage in gentle, circular motions to revive your skin.

  1. Hydrate it with honey


Honey is well-known for its skin moisturizing properties, making it a popular home remedy for dry skin. Packed with generous amounts of antiseptic and antiviral properties, honey is a natural humectant that helps in to lock in the moisture. Mix 1 tsp honey with 1 tsp coconut oil and half a squeezed lemon. Apply it on the dry areas and wipe off using a warm soft cloth after 20 minutes for instant results.

  1. Massage with coconut oil or sesame oil


Both these cooking oils have been used by the Indian women, across generations, to keep their skin nourished. Coconut oil is super effective in improving skin hydration. It also contains Vitamin E, a moisturizing element that also doubles up as an anti-sun agent.

Sesame oil is rich in Vitamin E, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, and stearic acid, which enable it to work as a wonderful skin moisturizer. Since it has a very strong aroma, you can mix it with other carrier oils and apply it on your cracked feet, elbows, chapped lips, and knees.

  1. Take it the milky way


The soothing and anti-inflammatory properties of milk make it a natural solution for dry, irritating skin. The lactic acid present in milk helps in the elimination of dead cells while improving the moisture-retention potential of the skin. Dip a clean washcloth in cold milk and place it on the dry skin. Alternatively, rub a mixture of 1 tsp of rose water, 4 tbsp milk and 1 tbsp honey into your skin. Wash off after 20 minutes for glowing, soft skin.

  1. Drink water


Keeping your skin hydrated from within is equally important as topical moisturizing. Hence, it is advisable to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. You can also include fruit juices that do not contain sugar to enhance your fluid intake. Water helps in elimination of toxins from within, eventually healing your dry skin.

  1. Lather with chocolate


Chocolate could be harmful to your waist, but it is good for your skin. You mix the unsweetened cocoa powder with honey and milk to prepare a skin hydrating and lightening mask. Apply it on cleansed skin and wash off using cool water after 20 minutes.

Include about 30 grams of the antioxidant-rich dark chocolate [should contain more that 60% of cocoa] in your diet once a week to ward off the free radicals that deplete the moisture levels.

  1. Treat it with berries


Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries – all these fruits are packed with rich amounts of antioxidants that offer wonders for the skin. Puree them and use their pulp to treat your skin to a delightful experience. Or, include them in your diet as such or blend them with low-fat yogurt or milk for a tasty skin-friendly shake.

  1. Treat it with castor oil


This thick, viscous golden-hued liquid is a not-so-popular, yet marvellously effective natural remedy for dry skin. Replete with Vitamin E and ricinoleic acid, castor oil is therapeutic for your skin. While its astringent properties keep the skin free from impurities, its moisturizing properties nourish the skin.

  1. Exercise regularly


As you sweat, the skin finds a way to expel the toxins and dead cells. Plus, exercise improves your circulation levels, transferring additional doses of oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the skin. This, eventually, heals your dry skin from within.
